The Hi-Fi Mystery School is a cooperative of musicians, sound designers, and animators from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Members of the group are: Jeroen van Meeteren, Kerwin de Vries, Simon van Roekel, Bart Heideman, Daniel Schotsborg, Edward Smid and Jan Prins.

The Hi-Fi Mysteryschool frequencies
The Hi-Fi Mystery School is in the process of conducting fundamental research into the power of music. Currently the true effect of music on the listener is only a fraction of what it could be. This is because in the West all instruments are tuned on a principle named "Equal Temperament". In this system all tones are artificially divided in equal steps over an octave. This is artificial because it varies completely from naturally occurring tones. In Nature sound manifests itself according to certain laws. By studying these laws and applying them to our music, we obtain music that is once again in harmony with nature and therefore also with man, the listener.

The Ground frequency is an important aspect of music of the Hi-Fi Mystery School. This frequency is determined in advance according the effect that it has on the listener. Another important advantage of the system we use is that the overtones are pure in contrast to overtones in the system of equal temperament and therefore in harmony with the ground frequency. This means that the effects of the ground frequency through these pure overtones, are allowed to influence the sub conscience and conscience in a direct manner. With certain techniques the two cerebral hemispheres are synchronized as a result of which one can have optimal perception of the frequencies. With this summary of our techniques, we would like to show you a picture of what the Hi-Fi Mystery Music School can do for you: It is a completely novel way to experience music.

We work with both head (using the described techniques) and heart (by actually playing intuitively the music). In the music we create the symbiosis between head and heart that assures a profound influence on the listener.

This year Bogdan Moldovan, better known as DJ Optick will perform again on Romania’s biggest annual dance event: The Liberty Parade. As we speak, Optick is one of the most popular electronic music artists in his country. Since his release on 90watts, together with studio mate Ciprian Lemnaru, his international aspirations are coming true. Time to turn the spotlight on DJ Optick and his gig at Romania’s biggest dance event: The Liberty Parade.

Hi Bogdan, how are you?

Hello! Well, you could say its a bit early, but I am preparing the set for the biggest dance event in Romania. Its the 10th edition and I prepared some special treats some of them with dutch flavour.

Tell us more about your history in electronic music. How has it all begun?

It all started in long time ago in 94' when i discovered that I could entertain my classmates with the music i was collecting for some time. At 16 I started my own radio show in my hometown Radio 21 also a residency at the biggest club in the area. In 2000 I moved in Bucharest and so i discovered the dance scene i fell in love with. It is also the year i started my residency for Liberty Parade. Along with my friends from Activ started in 2005 producing the offical anthems for the event. This is how i discovered the "studio life" if i may so and the joy of being aplaused when you're playing your own production. We signed our track Feel Good, with the australian label Wasted Youth and the track was played by Pete Tong in his Radio 1 show, which ofcourse was such an honour for us. I met then in 2008 Ciprian Lemnaru and after few atempts we finally got it right and signed our first EP with you guys.

Yeah indeed. A few months ago, you released an EP on 90watts. What brought you to this record label?

I just guess it was just a happy coincidence. Me and Ciprian were in the studio making the finall adjustments for the two tracks we've signed with you. And while i was searching on Beatport for some bombs I bumped into you on th website and I said, hei these guys have really something to say and i really think our tracks could fit into their sound, lets try sending them...you know the rest :)

What have you been doing ever since?

After we relased our first Ep - Connected, we did a remix for Jens de Langer vs Vmh - Arcturian Armitrage wich is also out on 90watts.

So now you’re preparing your set at the Liberty Parade. Can you tell us more about this event?

It's actually the biggest dance event in Romania. Starting with a 1000 people crowd in 2001 ending with 60 000 people in 2009, it really a very powerfull event!

What can we expect from you on 90watts in the future?

After a short spring break i spent with my family, i finally got back in studio and we are looking forward seeing you again on 90watts website with new material we are working on as we speak.

The 10th edition of the Obsession Outdoor festival will take place on Saturday the 5th of June this year. Four stages are going to present a very wide range of electronic music styles and it's an honour for 90watts to host the tech-house stage for the second time.

Last year the 90watts stage was booming, with artists like David Labeij, Kabale Und Liebe, PrinsJan & Dennis Ruyer and Secret Cinema. On the 2010 edition the tent will be larger and feature some very special eye candies. Other stages and areas are hosted by Dirty Beat Freakz, Floorfillerz and Rebellion.

Line up 90watts stage:

2000andOne2000 and One

Constantly reinventing himself, Dylan Hermelijn aka 2000 And One has been on the forefront of electronic music since the early nineties. Clear musical vision and a do-it-yourself mentality have brought him where he is today: leading some of Amsterdam's most renowned technolabels and representing a sound and a scene that have captured the hearts of so many around the world. http://www.myspace.com/2000andone

Olene KadarOlene Kadar (Live)

Oldeholtwolte – Olene – Kadar; these three exotic terms describe an extraordinary musician. Olene Kadar, who is also known as Henk van Zwol from Oldeholtwolde, is an intriguing personality with a remarkable sense for music and hairstyle. In 2007 the young Dutchman supplied the nightlife with a series of rocking live-sets in places like the Sugar Factory and Bla Bla nights at Studio 80 in Amsterdam. http://www.myspace.com/henkvanzwol

Daniel SanchezDaniel Sanchez

Daniel Sanchez is the bad boy of the Amsterdam techno underground: Daniel Sanchez, 24 year old son of a Spanish father and a Dutch mother. He’s been around for quite some time and made his name as a dj, party organiser and as one of the key figures of the burgeoning Amsterdam minimal and techno scene. His successful Rotzooii and Blabla parties – held amongst others in Studio 80, Stubnitz, Bunker and Westerunie - are among the best underground-events Amsterdam has to offer. http://www.myspace.com/danielsanchezzz

UndersUnders

Unders has quite some history, bringing artists such as Booka Shade Minilogue, Locodice and Trentemoller to aa variety of events he organized in the Netherlands. Besides that his dj career is succesful with residencies at Studio 80, Electronation, Karotte's Kitchen and more..... As a producer he already got  minor success with the '3 Days In Kazachstan' track, which was remixed by Stimming and compiled by Karotte for his radio show & compilation. http://www.myspace.com/undersmusic

El Mundo & SatoriEl Mundo & Satori

Besides the base of a good friendship, El Mundo & Satori are in music more or less complementary to each other; the best of two worlds. Both have had their experience in mostly dj-ing for quite some years. About one year ago they started producing together. They share a passion for percussive deep house and driving (tech-) house with percussive rhythms, funky basslines and influences from live instruments. Their style can be described as funky, deep and the most important thing: danceable. http://myspace.com/elmundosatori

Dennis RuyerDennis Ruyer & PrinsJan

Respectively show host and producer of award winning radio show Dance Department on Radio 538. Besides, they made several productions and remixes on 90watts and Little Mountain, like "The Crystals of Shamballa" and a groundbreaking remix of "My Lexicon", the all-time prog classic by Sander Kleinenberg.

Van Meeteren & Hyde

Van Meeteren & Hyde

Jeroen van Meeteren was known as dj JVM in the 90ties and started 90wattsrecords in 1996. After several housemusic collaborations, he met Bart Heideman (aka Hyde) and they start making music in 1999. Inspired by Kruder & Dorfmeister, they start making triphop and their own downbeat style. After a few years they refound their passion for housemusic again. The last few years Van Meeteren and Hyde have been searching for a sound of their own, and that has resulted in a couple of smashing releases till so far. http://vanmeeterenhyde.com

Jut & JulJut & Jul

After a couple of years of solo dj-ing, Bryan Bosschieter and Frank Slijkerman, both 21 y.o, decided to go together as a dj duo at the end of 2008. Jut & Jul have proven their dj talents on several events in Northern Holland, Amsterdam and Antwerp, where their funky (deep) house and rolling, driving tech house music made the crowd go berserk.

El Mundo & Satori are back on 90watts with "The Boat That Rocks", a package of funky, rolling and rocking tech-house beats.

With their smashing releases over the last few months, the guys from Nijmegen, eastern Netherlands, are the rising stars of the global electronic music scene. Respected artists like Karotte, Michel de Hey, DJ Sneak and Tim Andresen recommend El Mundo & Satori to be next big thing.

On this “The Boat That Rocked” EP, the guys turned into the funky, hippie soul sides of house music. Rolling basslines and bouncy grooves all over the tracks and even a passionated preacher will certainly make the crowd go wild. Some may call it house music, some call it tech-house. The guys themselves call it "old school funk".

On special demands from dj's in our network, we also decided to enclose a "Speechless Dub" version. Daniel Sanchez remixed "The Boat That Rocked" for his "Minutes Of Love" remix series and and Mulder completes the package with a remix of "Stay Tuned".
